Be still or stay addicted to being busy…
I talk to clients and acquaintances all the time,
I ask how they’re doing and they say “busy!” or “good!”
No one says calm, relaxed, bored or I’ve been doing as little as I can so I can connect with myself
As business owners and entrepreneurs, we do get busy in building our businesses and lives, but there is an ADDICTION TO BEING BUSY FOR BUSY SAKE once we get to a certain level
We take on things to feed our EGO that really take us away from something more purposeful, like…
Family
- Creation for enjoyment
- Processing thoughts and emotions
- Identifying what we truly want in life, not what others think we should have or BE
- Exploring or adventuring
- Sitting and reading
- Just going for a walk without stimulus(headphones or the company of another person)
We’ve been this way for so long that we are absolutely uncomfortable if we have not packed our time with to-dos
We tend to create work for works sake so there is artificial significance
We get uncomfortable when there is silence and not a fire to put out, most of the time we created
Many times the dreams we have, once a reality do not make us feel the way we thought they would…
Still wanting more…
When is enough, enough?
We are left in a place where we have everything we need, yet we still feel like something is missing
So what to do?
Meditation is a great way to be still, however it’s typically not enough
Why? We can’t sit as long as we need to in order to get to the place we are supposed to
I’ve been on a journey this year that’s revolved around being STILL and what I’ve learned is…
We need more time to create, detach from outcomes and goals, and just “BE” so we can build a strong foundational center within…
So we don’t ever feel like we are without.
What does being still mean
Minimal stimulus, no agenda, no time tracking, no measurement
Just “BE”
I’m all for continuing to EXPAND ourselves in all aspects of life, but it must be purposeful!
Churchill used his time of being still to lay bricks or paint, even in time of war, he created space so he could process the constant stress of the battles internally and externally
The journey I went through was uncomfortable at times, left me fighting with myself, but ultimately I understood a level of inner peace I had never experienced before and live as purposefully as I possibly can.
